Virunga Lodge Bandas and Amenities
Virunga Lodge features 10 elegant Bandas, each with a private terrace offering spectacular views of the Virunga Volcanoes, the Twin Lakes, the lush Musanze Valley, and surrounding landscapes. Of these, 4 are Deluxe Bandas, offering private suites, while the rest are Standard Bandas. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge, and a personal butler service is provided for all guests. Each Banda is equipped with central fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms with double sink vanities, eco-friendly flushing toilets, showers with hot/cold running water, power sockets/charging facilities, hair dryers, and spacious sitting areas for relaxation.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary 50-minute spa and massage treatment per stay, such as a Rungu massage, after an adventurous day of trekking in Volcanoes National Park. The Dian Fossey Map Room, established in 2017 in honor of American primatologist Dian Fossey, is available for conservation lectures and provides a unique space to learn more about her 18-year dedication to studying and protecting mountain gorillas.

Guests of Virunga Lodge can enjoy a variety of lodge activities, including tours of the solar power project, Intore dance performances, the VSPT “one-sheep-per-family” project, and the Water Tank Project, among others. Due to the lodge’s proximity to Volcanoes National Park, visitors can partake in activities such as gorilla trekking, hiking to the Dian Fossey Gravesite, trekking the Virunga Volcanoes (Karisimbi and Bisoke), golden monkey tracking, and birding/nature walks.
